Multi-Day Courses___________________________________________________

Learn about Colorado's mountain ecosystems through discovery and adventure! This introductory course is designed for youth with a sense of wonder. Daily hiking and rock climbing field trips will strengthen observation, while participants practice basic survival and navigation skills needed for travel in the mountains. Participants will make a field journal, learn about the 10 essentials and Leave No Trace, build shelters, travel on snow and play games! Five day format will include indoor climbing, outdoor climbing, and three days of hiking. Maximum 12 and minimum 6 participants.

Course meets Mon. - Fri. 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the American Mountaineering Center (AMC) in downtown Golden with daily field trips to local open space parks. Drop-off and pick-up is at the AMC.

Ages: 9-12

Fee: $265 CMC members or $275 non-members. Includes transportation, snacks, field guide, and gear use.

Explore the foothills through discovery and adventure! This unique three-day course is designed to introduce youth to the outdoors through games, hiking, and exploration. Participants will learn about Colorado's diverse plant and animal life, try rock climbing, practice using a compass, and create a naturalist notebook. Maximum 12 and minimum 6 participants.

Course meets 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the American Mountaineering Center (AMC) in downtown Golden with daily field trips to local open space parks. Drop-off and pick-up is at the AMC.

Join us for adventure and discovery in the mountains! We will spend the day exploring and playing games to learn about Colorado's unique plants and animals. Participants may go on a short nature hike, tromp around in waders, or practice survival skills. All classes meet at the American Mountaineering Center in Golden at 9:00 a.m. and return by 3:00 p.m. Classes are designed for new and returning participants.

Ages: 7-9
