1. Educational Activities The CMC's Denver Group offers the finest educational activities in the state that you as a member can participate in. Our schools include: Wilderness Trekking ; Backpacking ; Basic Mountaineering ; High Altitude Mountaineering (HAMS) ; Beginning and Trad Lead Climbing ; Technical Ice Climbing ; Wilderness Survival ; Avalanche Awareness ; Backcountry Ski Touring ; The Telemark ; Ski Mountaineering School ; Winter Camping ; Fly Fishing ; and WIlderness First Aid.
2. Friendships . Are you new to Denver? Do you want to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities with others of like mind and abilities? The CMC offers you the opportunity to meet others like yourself, whether that means you share climbing fourteeners or photographing wild flowers. There are over 7,000 CMC members. The Club is dependable and reliable. Activities are scheduled every weekdays, weekend and mostl holidays.
Another great way to meet new friends is to join any one of our special sections
and numerous activities that the club offers. The largest social sections include Trailblazers, Summit Seekers, Rocky Mountain Over The Hill Gang (RMOTHG) and Downhillers ; each of these sections offers social activities and outings. Other sections that focus on specific skills – High Altitude Mountaineering (HAMS), Fly Fishing, and Rock Climbing (Tech Section).
3. Conservation And The Environment. The Club takes pride in its long-standing commitment to conservation and environmental ethics. Our members were involved in the establishment of Rocky Mountain National Park and Dinosaur National Monument. Today we are involved in issues affecting wilderness preservation, water and timber management, and access to public lands. We support trail building and maintenance. Members are invited to get involved by joining the Denver Group Conservation Committee.
4. Publications. As members you will receive:
- Trail & Timberline : the quarterly magazine of the CMC .
- Mile High Mountaineer : a monthly electronic newsletter which includes the Social Activities Calendar; hard copy subscriptions are available for an annual subscription fee. The Activity Schedule is available on-line to all members; an abbreviated schedule for the coming month’s Denver Group activities only is printed in the Mile High Mountaineer.
